Vascular skin requires special care, especially in summer during periods of increased sun exposure and in winter when temperatures are extreme. It is necessary to select suitable dermocosmetics to protect the skin from irritants.
Huge temperature changes, smog in winter, strong winds, freezing precipitation and other unfavourable atmospheric factors affect especially those with vascular, very dry, sensitive and reactive skin and with rosacea. These are unfavourable conditions for any skin type, but the aforementioned are particularly prone to irritation and discomfort, so it is imperative to ensure adequate protection.
Many people do not realise the need to choose an extra cosmetic for the winter time and use the same cream all year round. Meanwhile, it is usually too light, often a light O/W oil-in-water emulsion, which is far too light in the event of severe frost.
Is it possible to use your daily cream, and a protective cream on top of it?
It all depends on what formulation you are using. If it is light, we can use an extra preparation specifically for winter after a few minutes. The point is not to get the effect of a heavy greasy mass clogging the pores and worsening the condition of the skin. It is worth paying attention that the additional cream acts as protection, slightly lubricating, but without overdoing it. Dermocosmetics for capillary skin contain acids, vitamins and light moisturising substances. So this aspect of the cosmetic’s action is already ensured.
It is worth looking at the composition to ensure that the creams do not contain the same active ingredients, as this is then a duplication of the cosmetic effect. It can be a heavier so-called universal cream, which usually contains the least irritating active ingredients with a moisturising and regenerating effect and UVA/UVB filters. You may opt for a protective cream for sensitive skin, as it is unlikely to irritate vascular skin.
Do not experiment with greasy protective cosmetics for acne-prone skin with broken capillaries and rosacea with visible vessels. This is because the delicate balance of sebum production by the sebaceous glands is easily upset. On the other hand, in this case, vascular skin does not cause as much trouble in choosing the right dermocosmetic.
