Heavy legs after a day spent standing in the heat are not uncommon. However, more often than not, when this sensation does not pass, it can mean heavy legs syndrome. This feeling can affect up to half of the population. The causes of the condition can range from being overweight, venous and heart disease, through prolonged immobility to pregnancy. Heavy leg syndrome includes the following symptoms: swollen ankles and swollen feet, calf muscle cramps, stabbing pain in the calves and feet, spider veins on the legs (telangiestasis), varicose veins, tingling in the legs, numbness, and itchy skin. Diabetic foot – is one of the complications of diabetes that can occur in nearly 10% of diabetics. As a result of inadequate treatment or lack of treatment, there is damage to the blood vessels. Through overgrowth and lack of elasticity, ischaemia of the tissue occurs. At the same time, as a result of diabetes, thrombocytes in the blood start to aggregate and form blockages, which also causes additional tissue hypoxia. This process results in necrosis of the tissue, which can lead to amputation of the foot.
