We asked you about the most beautiful scents you have found in cosmetics. Please describe the fragrance itself and the impression it evokes in you….. However, in the descriptions submitted, it was not always the fragrance note enclosed in a jar of cream or a bottle of perfume that was evoked, but the scent of flowers, fruit, green tea, dried wood, coffee, cardamom, vanilla, cinnamon, coconut oil, the orient…
The most beautiful, yet very rare scent in cosmetics and perfumes that I have found so far is that of the lilac blossom. This is because these are my beloved spring flowers, and I could enjoy their scent all year round. It’s a very feminine, sweet scent that is also very lovely and makes me think of those most beautiful long-awaited first days of spring. I love body butters and lotions that smell of lilac blossom, I can feel such sweet spring joy underneath while lotioning.
The scent… I still have the scene in front of my eyes from the famous film , “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer”, when a crowd of people cannot resist the scent that has been discovered by the young but dangerous Jean -Baptiste….. I think I feel something similar when I wear an oriental-wood perfume with notes of mimosa, bergamot and orange blossom. It’s an aroma that acts on me like a soft drug: I have a lot of energy, the creative urge appears and…. I love everyone around me, like those people in the famous scene from ,,Perfume”.
Fragrance is the best way to dress a woman, someone once said, and I agree. Therefore, my favourite fragrances reflect what I am like. I definitely prefer perfumes with a fresh, marine note. I’m the type of dreamer who sometimes finds it hard to get out of bed with renewed energy. All I have to do in the morning is lightly spray this perfume on my neck, I have positive energy for the whole day! The marine refreshing fragrance makes me optimistic about the world and people and makes me feel attractive and fresh even after a tiring day. Whatever the season and whatever the weather, dressed in a fresh fragrance, I am wearing… the sea breeze, the sound of the wind, the warm sand of the beach, the sun and drops of refreshing water….. I am dressed in what is most beautiful to me.
A note of bergamot, that is what I am always looking for.
Lily of the valley, lily of the valley, lily of the valley and more lily of the valley. It’s a fragrance that I get intoxicated by. I always look for lily of the valley in a perfume.
The scent doesn’t matter much to me. I remember the smell of my mother’s cream from my childhood. I would love to buy this cream now to take me back to my childhood years with memories.
The scent of a cosmetic product is a very important aspect. I have sensitive skin and, in addition, I have numerous allergies to fragrances. Before buying a good cosmetic, I simply have to try it out to see if it will “suffocate” me. I know it sounds ridiculous. As a rule, delicate fragrances don’t sensitise me, but this also varies. To be safe and eliminate any risk of ‘wasted’ money, I buy fragrance-free cosmetics. I can tolerate the smell of rose and green grass.
The most beautiful scents for me are the scents of flowers. There is nothing like a fragrance that is enveloping, fresh and sweet at the same time.
At times it smells almost suffocating, like dried wood – a very smoky and woody atmosphere. I don’t detect any citrus at all – well, maybe somewhere in the background. It also suits me better in the evening than during the day, when I can smell it most intensely. It has a relaxing effect.
The floral notes give a feeling of freshness and the green tea gives a feeling of cleanliness, so the fragrance is suitable for various outings. The perfume is not very long-lasting, after a while I have to check if I can still smell it on me. I don’t see this as a disadvantage because, of the two evils, it’s better to top up during the day than to get tired of the fragrance.
It’s mainly patchouli, which we don’t always love – quite sharp, camphor-like, with a drop of rose oil. There’s also quite a lot of clove – and that’s pretty much it. When I sniff it from a flacon or sample I can feel its complexity and richness of notes, while my skin absorbs it and doesn’t let it unfold.
A fragrance that has the makings of a signature scent – it will work for any occasion and at any time, although hardly for dates and big outings. Multifaceted, certainly not boring, pleasant, creamy, slightly powdery, sweet and fresh at the same time. Seemingly light, used in excess it can tire. The perfume is quite long-lasting, with little projection, which will work well at work.
This is the first fragrance in which I can distinguish three phases. The opening is strongly floral, immediately followed by the scent of pavement after rain on a summer day. Then the fragrance takes on a Fahrenheit character, which, by the way, I hate, but here it is not so petrolish. Still sharp, but somehow more pleasant. In this phase, you can still smell the pavement-concrete. After about an hour, the scent changes completely – it gets warm, sweet, creamy. They are exceptionally sweet, but this sweetness is broken by a fair amount of my beloved patchouli, which completely changes their character. At first they seem intense, slightly pungent, and this is due to the green notes which, although you can’t smell them directly, make the fragrance seem ‘crisp’, ‘sharp’ at first. Interestingly, immediately after applying the fragrance, I do not smell pomegranate at all; it appears only on the following day, when the composition has already been strongly weathered, and then a slightly tart, sour note is revealed. The quintessence of the perfume, however, is hurma (persimmon), which strongly dominates the whole time and comes to the foreground, significantly suppressing even quite strongly perceptible patchouli. Only after a few hours (2-3) do I feel the flowers, mainly champaca (still in fruity company), the other floral components getting lost somewhere. An interesting perfume, although I got bored of it quite quickly. At times they are too sweet for me. Ideally suited to the winter period, in the summer, on the other hand, it can be too bland, even despite my favourite patchouli, which unfortunately loses most of its clamour here.
The most beautiful fragrance notes are those on which memories fly to me. So I look for them in perfumes and cosmetics, and the most favourite ones are delicate jasmine, subtle rose and fresh apple. And it is jasmine and rose that smell of love to me. Jasmine evokes a memory from years ago, when the shrubs in the family garden, covered in white flowers, would envelop me in a scent that was intoxicating and sensual, fuelled by the closeness of his arms. That garden has long since ceased to exist, the most pleasant presence of that time has lost its intensity, to finally dissipate like a beautiful dream interrupted at dawn, but the drawer in my memory still opens to the password of the jasmine scent. And it still sweetly lulls the tender memories stored therein. The rose scent is the image projected on the memory screen of 30 red roses standing in a bucket before I acquired a suitably large vase for them. A stunning, refined and romantic bouquet, brimming with passion, wrapped in a sweet, subtle scent and promising to reveal some intriguing secret to me. At the time, I wanted so much to be able to enchant these roses so that they would never die, and the feelings and emotions accompanying them would be eternal too! Unfortunately, the feelings withered not much later than the roses, but to this day their fragrance carries echoes of those sensations. The apple is also my longing glimpse into the past. The memory runs to my grandmother’s orchard, in spring flowered to the limit and to excess, in autumn attired in heavy coloured balls of apples, bearing all their wealth, which my brother and I lustily tried to plunder. Greed deplored the limitation of our appetites, but instead allowed us to satiate our senses at will. The smell of fresh apples sank deeply into them, and its record in the memory does not allow itself to be erased. Back then, my days smelled of happiness, and happiness – among other things – was apples. To this day, the apple is for me not only the most wonderful and tasty fruit in the world, but also a sentimental journey into the land of past experiences and sensations. I enjoy these imaginary journeys, accompanied by the smells of long ago. They are my stops on the road of memories, so I also look for them in perfumes and cosmetics to trigger pleasant emotions. Patchouli, sandalwood are scents that I love.
I may or may not surprise someone…. but despite my already mature age. I have a great fondness for the smell of cardamom, cinnamon, oriental. My husband has such a fragrant aura of his own. Favourite foods, cosmetics, tobacco all add up to a unique blend of aromas. In spite of his already mentioned years 🙂 The oriental scent has something … velvety and intriguing just like my husband. The eyes, the voice, the tender tone when he talks about his wife, his daughters and his experiences. Like an oriental fragrance, it is rough on the surface but warm at its core. It is distinct and recognisable. This fragrance cannot be mistaken for anything else. Among the crowd with my eyes closed, I would find my husband – this comes with age.
I would like to talk about two fragrances that are extremely dear to me because they carry a huge dose of positive emotions, stimulate the imagination, evoke the most beautiful memories and ignite the senses. I have always associated the first with love, the second with holidays. I will start with the former, which is my beloved perfume, combining floral and fruity accents with exotic spices such as vanilla and ambergris. There is something else about this fragrance that I can’t quite name and describe… For me, it simply has a soul. It has many romantic and touching moments associated with it, deep looks in the eyes, loving confessions and promises. He was with me on my wedding day, which is why he is particularly close to me. Every time I wear it, I am transported to a land of the most beautiful memories, which, like a silk shawl, allow me to feel sensual elegance and rediscover my airy and ethereal side of nature. I dissolve in a delicate lily of the valley mist, accompanied by sweet spices and sour fruits, which enchants not only me but also those around me. I embark on a romantic and inspiring journey into the unknown, from which I return full of strength and energy, helping me to realise my dreams and celebrate every minute of my life. The second fragrance, especially when compared to the one described above, does not seem particularly sophisticated, but I love it just as much because it evokes joy, summer and carefreeness. It is the scent of the suntan lotion that takes me back to those crazy holidays in the tropics, the feel of the sun on my skin and the hot sand under my feet, the sound of the waves crashing on the rocky shore and the cries of the seagulls. I close my eyelids and my senses are taken over by an exotic blend of coconut oil and cocoa butter, the essence of summer, bringing a smile to my face and hundreds of memories in all colours of the rainbow. Skin a shade of mocha, the cool azure of the sky contrasting with the golden sand, and orange juice in hand. From the distance comes reggae music and the laughter of children building a sand castle. A riot of colours, sounds and smells, including one that has become indelibly etched in my memory as a symbol of summer and joy – sunbathing oil. This is what a holiday and total chillout in a tropical paradise smells like! This fragrance makes the distant and unattainable become closer and more real, memories come alive again. Although winter is in full swing, with the help of coconut oil and cocoa butter, a touch of magic and holiday charm creeps into my bathroom….
