Hyaluronic acid (Greek ‘hyalos’ – vitreous) belongs to the group of polysaccharides, or complex sugars, and is a natural component of the dermis and connective tissue. It has strong hygroscopic properties, i.e. it binds and stores water in the tissue and is thus responsible for the skin’s proper hydration, cohesion, elasticity and firmness. It protects tissues against bacterial infections and “scavenges” free radicals. It is primarily lost as we age.
The effects of hyaluronic acid deficiency include:
- dryness of the skin, decrease in elasticity, firmness, resilience,
- the formation of a mesh of fine and deep wrinkles,
- change in facial contour,
- appearance of a second chin,
- decrease in lip volume,
As an ingredient in cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations, its efficiency of penetration into the skin is strictly dependent on the size of its molecule. High-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid does not penetrate the skin, but acts on its surface. It then forms an ideal protective film, thereby reducing water evaporation and protecting the skin from the effects of adverse weather conditions. It can only be introduced deep into the skin using liposomes. Recently, however, scientists have developed a form of hyaluronic acid with much smaller molecules that reach different levels of the skin.
Hyaluronic acid combined with water forms a gel-like substance that binds several thousand times more water than the mass of hyaluronic acid alone. It is therefore an important moisturiser in cosmetology and, in combination with other active ingredients, influences the reconstruction of collagen and elastin. It is now used very frequently by aesthetic physicians, in laser treatments, needle-free and needle mesotherapy, and in wrinkle-filling injections. For medical tissue filler injections, macromolecular hyaluronic acid is primarily used.
Hyaluronic acid in Chantarelle cosmetics
Hyaluronic acid, both high and low molecular weight, is used in CHhantarelle preparations.
Low-molecular hyaluronic acid 50kDa
Mucopolysaccharide with the property of binding large amounts of water. Gives proper hydration to the intercellular substance of connective tissue. Strengthens and binds together collagen and elastin fibres in the dermis. Directly moisturises and stimulates the self-hydrating mechanisms responsible for the skin’s elasticity status and the smoothing of wrinkles. Its small particle size allows it to penetrate on its own, resulting in a simultaneous effect of immediate and long-lasting hydration. It has an extraordinary ability to fill the spaces between collagen fibres, retaining water. This results in a highly smoothing effect, increasing skin elasticity and hydration. It also forms a natural film, shielding the stratum corneum from the penetration of chemicals and bacteria. Due to the specific structure of the molecule, it can be safely used in winter or other extreme conditions.
Multimolecular hyaluronic acid 1MDa
It has strong and immediate water-binding properties, forming a kind of water storage on the skin’s surface. By forming a protective film on the skin’s surface, it reduces transepidermal water loss, protects the skin from dryness and the adverse effects of external factors. The skin becomes soft and smooth. A sense of its proper tension and elasticity is restored.
Stimulator of hyaluronic acid synthesis
An innovative ingredient that influences the production of natural hyaluronic acid in the skin is HYA-STIM 3-Peptide. This is a new generation tripeptide that stimulates the skin to produce new hyaluronic acid from within. It has a firming and remodelling effect by smoothing wrinkles from within, strengthens the structure of collagen fibres, has an anti-ageing, rejuvenating and firming effect, and shapes the oval of the face. In vivo studies show an increase in the synthesis of hyaluronic acid by more than four times and an increase in the levels of decorin and lumican, i.e. proteoglycans, which strengthen collagen fibres, thus increasing skin elasticity and resilience. As a result, skin hydration is improved, wrinkles become shallow, skin tensions are smoothed. The facial oval is modelled and the double chin is significantly reduced.
High- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid and a hyaluronic acid stimulator are used in the formulations of the Nutri Maxx, Superior Youth Boost, Plant Plasma, Exo Lift, Agemelan Holistic, Sebumelan Holistic, PDT Black Essential and Special Aesthetics lines.
