Thermo-active treatments for skin rejuvenation and body contouring

When we are looking for methods to improve not only the appearance or colour of our skin, but also to improve its firmness and elasticity and enhance our shape – cosmetic preparations alone often prove to be insufficient. They need to be supported by appropriate treatment techniques. The question arises, what techniques will allow us to perform a facial and body skin lift in a safe and non-invasive way? which will help us to shallow wrinkles, improve skin density and tone and stimulate skin regeneration, as well as improve and firm the silhouette?

 

Magnetic field treatments

It is worth considering the use of laser therapy and magnetic fields, and first to recall what the science says about them. Magnetic field therapies are widely used as physical therapy, for post-operative, post-accident, wound and oedema treatment (Markov, 2007). The fields used in magnetotherapy have a magnetic induction of 0.1-20 mT, which is more than 100 times the magnetic induction values of the earth’s field. It is believed that the therapeutic effect of magnetic fields is associated with effects including intensification of tissue respiration processes, acceleration of tissue regeneration processes associated with the transformation of fibrocytes into fibroblasts and stimulation of collagen synthesis (Cieślar et al. 2005).

 

From regenerative medicine to aesthetic medicine

Pulsed magnetic fields are used in regenerative medicine and, in aesthetic medicine, their application helps to increase the production of collagen fibres by fibroblasts and stimulates angiogenesis and initiates regenerative processes (Gold, 2015). Studies of the effects of rotating magnetic fields have been conducted on cell lines indicating the involvement of the balance of reactive oxygen species and calcium levels in regenerative processes (Jedrzejczak-Silicka et al. 2021).

 

Improving skin elasticity

The firmness of the skin is provided by the entire structure of this tissue, but of particular importance are the proteins that build the extracellular matrix such as collagen, fibrillin, fibulin elastin, among others. The latter, although only 2% of the skin’s proteins, has important functions providing, among other things, skin elasticity. Unfortunately, photo-ageing affects the degree of skin elasticity by changing the structure of elastin fibres under the influence of UV radiation (Weihermann et al. 2017). Research indicates that elastin undergoes temperature-dependent changes in structure (Li et al. 2001) and acquires a more ordered form as temperature increases. This concept is used by a number of methods to improve skin elasticity and reduce flabbiness. These therapies include the use of magnetic fields, as well as non-thermal lasers. Red light and infrared radiation have proven regenerative, restorative and rejuvenating effects (Avici et al. 2013).

Techniques using pulsed and rotating magnetic fields, as well as laser radiation and the controlled action of elevated temperature are combined in a single treatment This gives a synergistic effect of improving skin tone and texture. Such effects are offered by the Chantarelle Thermo-Spherix® and ThermoLED Master® devices. In a study conducted on a group of 20 patients receiving body treatments with Thermo-Spherix®, a significant reduction in body circumference was observed after just 5 treatments, 78% of participants indicated the occurrence of a satisfactory slimming effect and 100% confirmed an increase in skin firmness and elasticity. The effects of the treatments are due to the interaction of the treatment methods and the preparations used in them. It is always worth caring about the good appearance and condition of our body, but it is easier to do so using methods and preparations of proven effectiveness and safe action.
