Chemical peels are effective aesthetic treatments with exfoliating properties that produce visible effects of skin layer renewal and rejuvenation. Chantarelle’s experts have developed a wide range of chemical peels that, in addition to their essential function of exfoliating the epidermis, allow for results in treatments for a specific skin problem, even sensitive and problematic skin.
The treatment protocols of the peels have been developed so that each step – from the preparation of the skin for the treatment, to the peeling procedure, to the post-treatment regeneration including home care – produces the best treatment effect and allows the results to be sustained, with minimal risk of skin irritation.
What distinguishes Chantarelle chemical peels?
1. a wide range of chemical peels – mono-peel formulas and mixed peels with a wide range of concentrations and pH – dedicated to dermoesthetics and medicine.
2. Innovative application methods: photosensitive peels in photodynamic PDT treatments, application by sonophoresis, iontophoresis, also manually.
3. Gel formulation of peels – allows longer application time and slow penetration (without rapid evaporation), resulting in high efficacy with minimal risk of irritation. The gel formula also increases the safety of the work, the product does not run off, and its application can be better controlled.
4. the special formulation of all peels gives the possibility of penetration in the skin through both transport channels:the aqueous channel and the lipid channel – regardless of their solubility, thus increasing the effectiveness of the action.
5. ideal peel formulations with unbuffered formulations: the pH is lower than pKa, so that the potency and effectiveness of the action is very high (exceptions are M-Lactic 30, 40 AHA Peel dedicated to basic cleansing and rejuvenating treatments, anti-acne treatments for sensitive oily skin and in treatments on larger areas of the body).
6. The treatment procedures provide for multi-layer applications depending on the skin type and type of problem, in which by using successive preparations with increasingly lower pH we reduce the risk of severe skin irritation with very high treatment efficacy.
7. Chantarelle experts have also developed special peels for skin types that are difficult to care for, such as vascular, sensitive, reactive, with symptoms of AD or rosacea, skin prone to allergies and intolerant of strong chemical peels.
Types of chemical peels in the Chantarelle range:
- AHA α-hydroxy acids – lactic acid, glycolic acid, mandelic acid, kojic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid
- BHA β-hydroxy acids – salicylic acid
- PHA polyhydroxy acids – gluconolactone, lactobionic acid
- others: azelaic acid, shikimic acid, ferulic acid, phytic acid
The Chantarelle experts have used a gradual pH lowering system. By gently lowering the skin’s pH when applying successive acid preparations in the treatment through a layered application of acids – tolerance to acids with a strong exfoliating action is increased
Wide spectrum of action
Chemical peels with acids properly selected in terms of type and concentration can act on problems of many skin types, including those that are very difficult to treat. Thanks to the exfoliation process and the regeneration of collagen fibres, fine wrinkles of mature skin can be smoothed out. The extraordinary effectiveness of acid peels is also proven in dermocures for oily skin with excessive seborrhoea, acne vulgaris, enlarged pores and blackheads. For sensitive skin, dry skin, vascular skin and skin with symptoms of rosacea, special acid-based programmes have also been developed, which have a minor exfoliating effect and mainly strengthen, regenerate and moisturise. Acids are an ideal treatment for problems with hyperpigmentation, colour changes and minor scars, including acne scars. Chemical peels can be used on the face, neck decolletage, hands and selected parts of the body. They can also be combined with other procedures, including microdermabrasion, sonophoresis, iontophoresis, needle-free mesotherapy or laser and LED treatments. The peels in the Chantarelle brand’s range are a rich group of offerings. Each contains specific acids or mixtures of acids that have a targeted application.
Effects of acid treatments
- removal of keratinised, dead skin
- stimulation of the skin to produce new cells
- improving the hydration of the skin
- improving the blood circulation
- improving the blood supply to the skin
- brighten hyperpigmentation and spots
- uniform skin tone
- reduction of sun damage
- reduction of sun damage
- smoothing of fine lines and deep wrinkles
- improving skin elasticity
- improvement of skin elasticity and firmness
- unblocking and regulation of the sebaceous glands
- Purification of blackheads
- Cleansing of blackheads
- alleviating acne lesions
- neutralisation of scars, including acne scars
- alleviating stretch marks
- facilitating the penetration of cosmetic ingredients into the skin
The first effect is an improvement in skin tone and smoothness, which is usually visible immediately after the first treatment. During the treatment itself, redness of the skin may also occur with some types of acid, which disappears within a few hours.
After 2-3 days after a surface treatment, we may observe a slight peeling of the epidermis.
The result of chemical peels is dependent on:
- thickness of the skin
- sensitivity to acids
- lifestyle
- cosmetic and medical procedures previously performed
Medical peels induce controlled “damage” to the skin, which can cause irritation and an intense exfoliation and healing process of several days. Therefore, this type of treatment must be performed under medical supervision. Most of the expected results are achievable after a series of 3-5 treatments. When the recommended number is performed in a series and the recommendations for home care are strictly followed – the expected results are very long-lasting.
Main contraindications to chemical peels
- active vascular neuropathy
- allergy to a particular exfoliating substance
- spots and moles of unusual shape require dermatological consultation
- severe forms of acne
- dermal disruption
- active herpes, viral and bacterial skin infections
- purulent eruptions on the skin
- active herpes
- fungal skin infections
- fungal skin infections
- cutaneous warts
- numerous pigmented skin lesions
- skin neoplasms
- proneness to scarring
- denial tanning (tanorexia)
- pregnancy and breastfeeding
- after surgical procedures – break required min. 6 months
- after cryotherapy and retinoid treatment – interval of min. 6 months
Complications after superficial peels are rather rare, while deeper peels may result in erythema, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, herpes activation, among others.
Note: the procedure must not be performed on skin in the area of the eyes and mucous membranes.
Dermal care during and after treatment
NOTE: During treatment with a chemical peel:
- between treatments
- and approx. 30 days after the last treatment of the series
it is essential to use home care preparations with high UVA/UVB sun protection. Chantarelle experts have developed dedicated home care preparations for skin subjected to different types of acid treatments.
After completing a treatment or the entire series for sustained effects and best results, the client/client should receive guidance on the recommended Chantarelle formulations that provide a complement to the entire treatment procedure
