Shikimic and ferulic acids – new and still somewhat mysterious friends, for sensitive, reactive, dry, mature skin

Both acids have the effect of significantly improving the functionality of the skin barrier and better protecting it from harmful external influences. These acids although used in chemical peels for some time are probably not known enough. Both are mild but effective exfoliating agents that can be used throughout the year. But this is only the beginning of their unique properties. Both acids have an antioxidant effect and this is especially important today when our skin is exposed to many factors that increase oxidative stress. Other studies indicate a beneficial effect in hypertension and diabetes by counteracting glycation.
