Beautifeye™ – non-invasive lifting of the skin around the eyes

Lifting peptide eyelid and under-eye cream is the pearl of dermo aesthetic care from the Exo Lift line. It contains the innovative ingredient Beautifeye™, a cutting-edge formula that rejuvenates the entire eye area. It produces a 3-in-1 EFFECT: it lifts the upper eyelid crease, reduces “crow’s feet” at the corners of the eyes, lightens dark under-eye circles and reduces puffiness.

What is blepharoptosis?

Upper eyelid drooping, otherwise known as blepharoptosis, is a significant aesthetic as well as medical problem (1). Although eyelid flaccidity and drooping can affect people of any age, it is more common in older people due to the ageing process. As the years pass, the number of fibres and the functionality of collagen and elastin in the connective tissue of the skin decreases, causing the skin to lose its firmness and elasticity. This process intensifies after the age of 40 and intensifies with age. In most cases, blepharoptosis is treatable with surgery (2), although other less invasive or completely non-invasive solutions are being sought (3).

God grass

Science, in tandem with traditional knowledge, is meeting such expectations by providing substances that not only promote a youthful appearance, but even reverse the passage of time. With help comes Sigesbeckia Orientalis otherwise known as “divine grass”. The plant is well-known in traditional Southeast Asian medicine, where it is used against many diseases, including the treatment of wounds. Modern science is unlocking new secrets about this plant and enabling an in-depth understanding of the ways in which the substances it contains work. Today, we know many of the substances found in this plant (4), one of which is darutoside (5), a diterpene that strongly stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis. This results in a strengthening of the skin structure and an increase in the contractility of the fibres, resulting in an upper eyelid lift and a reduction in wrinkles at the corners of the eyes. An additional mechanism of action is to promote the formation of blood vessels. Supporting these actions with silkwood extracts, an anti-ageing effect can be achieved (6) by influencing protein glycation processes.

Protein glycation

Protein glycation is the process of non-enzymatic attachment of simple sugars to the free amino groups of proteins. It is one of the mechanisms of ageing. This reaction also occurs when dicarbonyl compounds, which are glucose derivatives, react with proteins. These compounds can be detoxified by the glyoxalase system. This simultaneously reduces the deposition of pigments. These pigments are lipofuscins – pigments deposited intra-lysosomally. They are an intracellular marker of ageing. Lipofuscin granules are present in cells of the kidney, heart, adrenal glands and nervous tissue. So-called ‘liver spots’ on the skin are deposits of lipofuscin in skin cells.

The 3-in-1 effect – non-invasive skin lifting around the eyes

The rejuvenating properties are utilised in the formulations of the Exo Lift line. The formulations contain a range of active ingredients, including peptides and the revolutionary ingredient Beautifeye™. In vivo studies conducted for Beautifeye™ showed a 61% reduction in upper eyelid drooping after one month and 91% after 2 months of use. It was also observed to smooth wrinkles and reduce their volume (by 34%), depth (by 33%) and significantly reduce dark circles under the eyes after 2 months of use by reducing redness (by 32%) and blue discolouration (by 30%). A consumer study of 105 volunteers showed a noticeable improvement in eye contour and skin texture for all Beautifeye™ directions after just seven days of use. The results presented above demonstrate conclusively the efficacy of Beautifeye™ as an innovative ingredient with clinically proven effects. Its action includes not only eyelid correction, reduction of wrinkles at the corners of the eyes, the so-called “crow’s feet”, but is also anti-edematous and against bruising and uneven pigmentation. This innovative cosmetic ingredient is the first ingredient for which a lifting effect on sagging upper eyelids has been demonstrated. It therefore provides a non-invasive alternative to surgical procedures.
