Platinum particles have been used in the Platinum Peel&Cure line of treatment formulations. It has a powerful rejuvenating, regenerating and reconstructing effect on the skin. It reduces deformations in the skin cells, participates in tissue reconstruction (healing, scarring). Radically reduces epidermal hyperpigmentation of various aetiologies by evening out skin tone. It exhibits strong antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
Valuable metal
Platinum is a precious metal whose value is higher than that of gold. When it was discovered in the 18th century it was undervalued – it was initially thought to be an inferior variety of silver. Hence its name, which is a diminutive of the Spanish term for silver (plata) and can be translated as “silver”. Today platinum finds a variety of applications from advanced catalysts, electrical engineering – to ingredients in medicines, and also in cosmetics.
In order to use particlesplatinum, it is necessary to use the latest advances in science and technology to obtain the right shape, size and composition of materials (Peng and Yang, 2009). The control of particle parameters is equally important in medical and cosmetic applications. Their size, shape and other parameters determine both their properties and their ability to penetrate the skin (Yamada et al 2015). The latter property depends primarily on size, but other factors such as their composition or shape also play an important role. Skin condition and parameters also condition the penetration and function of the particles, and the mechanism of penetration may vary (Filon et al, 2015).
Effect of platinum in cosmetics
Particles of platinum exhibit antioxidant activity and, when applied to the skin, slow down the atrophic changes characteristic of the ageing process – thus the rejuvenating effects of platinum have been confirmed (Shibuya et al. 2015). The antioxidant potential of platinum particles is also manifested by anti-inflammatory and protective effects against the effects of UV radiation. In summary, platinum is a cosmetic ingredient that has a rejuvenating, regenerative and restorative effect on the skin.
