The sea floor is home to sugars, among them the beautiful sea anemone. Although they are very delicate, they have various substances for their defence. One of these is contained in the venom that protects the anemones from predators and helps them to obtain food. The protein in the venom has an analgesic, or pain-relieving, effect. This is due to the fact that it is an inhibitor of the pain receptor TRPV1 (Binshtok et al. 2007). As proteins are often intractable, fragments of proteins can be used – just such a fragment – a peptide with pain-relieving activity has been studied by researchers and can benefit us in many ways (Andreev et al. 2008, Nikolaev et al. 2017). In studies,this peptide has been shown to reduce skin reactivity and sensitivity. In the case of sensitive skin, this means abolishing or significantly reducing the sensation of itching, calming irritated skin and reducing the effect of stress on the skin and reducing redness. Skin hypersensitivity is an increasingly common condition and occurs when the skin reacts excessively to environmental stimuli such as heat, light, contact with, for example, clothing or pollution.
