Sodium DNA is the latest active ingredient of marine origin, developed through biomolecular technology. Thanks to its complex rejuvenating action, it is used in treatments to reduce wrinkles and increase skin elasticity. It is also used for the prevention and repair of blood vessel structure, skin micro-damage, UV and R radiation damage and oxidative damage.
The rejuvenating effects of Sodium DNA
Sodium DNA contains purified deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) with sodium ions. This means that the DNA has been isolated, purified depolymerised and neutralised using sodium ions. This formulation allows penetration into the cell using a pinocytosis mechanism involving adenosine receptors. There, the repair action associated with activation of the immune system through stimulation of cytokines and synthesis of growth factors begins. The processes running inside the cells allow effective tissue regeneration. Administration of such preparations to the skin accelerates wound healing. The same processes enable increased skin elasticity, especially around the eyes. The most likely explanation for the mechanism of the rejuvenating effect of preparations with Sodium DNA is that DNA fragments are donors of purine and pyrimidine bases, which are key to the vitality of every cell. Once inside the cell, they contribute to the synthesis of the cell’s own DNA. This is particularly important for cells exposed to stress, which is the case for skin cells such as fibroblasts and keratinocytes. Studies on fibroblast and keratinocyte cultures have demonstrated the protective and regenerative effects of the Sodium DNA preparation. Similarly, other preparations of polydoxyribonucleotides (1). It has also been shown to improve skin hydration, elasticity and thickness and reduce wrinkles (2). Although the mechanism of these processes itself is complex and still under investigation, other actions of the preparations such as photoprotective or antioxidant effects have also been observed.
Repairing effects of Sodium DNA
Increased levels of fibroblast proliferation are observed as a result of the application of Sodium DNA preparations. Interaction with adenosine A2 receptors is indicated, which translates into repair processes in tissues after tissue damage. Activation of growth factor-dependent pathways such as VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) and those related to nitric oxide synthase activity are indicated. Changes in the levels of Fibronectin, a protein important in scarring processes, are also observed. Researchers report an effect on pro-adipocyte proliferation, which is related to cell differentiation processes in tissues that are the richest source of stem cells in humans (3). Sodium DNA also has a stimulating effect on the natural repair mechanisms of epidermal cells or connective tissue, such as granulation tissue. This reduces inflammation and levels micro-damage to the skin. The rejuvenating effect also applies to pigmentation and vascular changes. The primary effect, however, is to reduce existing wrinkles and prevent the formation of new ones.
Application of Sodium DNA in dermokuracies
The action of Sodium DNA is much broader and, in addition to the benefits mentioned above, it has applications in pathological skin conditions, burns, intimate infections and microcirculation problems. Biological preparations with Sodium DNA have demonstrated their affinity for all cell types found in humans. As a result, they can have numerous applications in dermatology, e.g. in the treatment of various skin lesions. They have many applications in advanced cosmetology. The safety of the use of such preparations is also very important – toxicological studies have shown no side effects from the use of Sodium DNA, even at high doses. It can be said that scientific knowledge and nature are intertwined here like two strands of DNA for our benefit. In summary, Sodium DNA an active ingredient with complex rejuvenating effects has been used in the rejuvenating dermocosmetic line Platinum Peel&Cure. Designed for effective treatments in wrinkle reduction, improvement of skin elasticity and prevention and repair of blood vessel structure, skin micro-damage and UV and R radiation damage and oxidative
